Choose a video above with Vocals selected. StemVocal takes the video's sound, separates the voice from the music, and plays both so you can check the result. Then Save video with vocals puts your video back together with only the voice as its sound.
The picture is not re-encoded: every frame is copied from your file as it is, with its size, frame rate and orientation. Only the sound changes. The video keeps its format wherever the browser can write that format's sound, so an iPhone MOV stays a MOV.
What it keeps and what it removes
The separation splits a mix into vocals and everything musical around them. Speech over background music, a vlog with a song behind it, or a singer with a band all divide the same way: the voice is kept and the instruments go.
It is an estimate made from a finished mix, so listen before you publish:
- Loud music under a voice can leave faint traces of the song, and the voice can sound a little thinner where the music was loudest.
- Other sounds such as applause, footsteps, traffic or sound effects are neither voice nor music, and can end up in either track.
- Several people talking stay together in the vocal track. The separation does not pick one speaker.
Keep the music instead
To remove the voice and keep the music, choose Instrumental before you start, or switch to Instrumental after the separation. Save video with instrumental then makes a version with only the music. A credit also gives you drums, bass and other on their own, and each can be saved into the video the same way.
Files and limits
- Formats: MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV.
- Length: up to 10 minutes of sound, in files of up to 4 GB.
- Sound: most browsers write the new sound in the video's usual format (AAC in MP4 and MOV, Opus in WebM). A browser that cannot, such as Chrome on Linux for AAC, saves a MOV or MKV with uncompressed sound instead. Video apps and social sites accept it, and the file is larger.
- Large videos: a long, high-resolution video needs free disk space about the size of the video while it is saved.
Only the sound is used for the separation, whether it runs on our servers or in your browser. The picture never leaves your device, and the new video is put together in your browser. See Privacy for how long each copy is kept.
Before you publish
Removing a song from a video does not change who owns the rest of it. Use videos you made or have permission to edit. The saved file keeps no location or camera details from the original.
